[A lot of you will recognize Gladio's voice, it's hard to miss and he's certainly loud enough at the parties. And as the first day of chaos begins to wind down with no sign of stopping things become much more dire, in Gladio's opinion. A certain Shield doesn't trust the Night. Surprise surprise.]

GUYS we're not going to be able to keep this up through the night, scattered like this. We need a place to regroup! If you're on the main island, Denny's the most defensible. If not... The light house on the farming island. If you can't defend yourself or just need a break, get there. Noct? You better have your ass in that building by sun down or so help me-

We need to stop these things from attacking the flocks. We just got all this shit from Harv we can't afford to let it all get eaten or washed out to sea now. Strength in numbers, right?

[It felt so familiar, like giving orders to the Glaives when he'd been helping Cor and Libertus over the years. Clear decisive action so those that are less experienced and scared have someone to look to. There's a moment where he abruptly wonders if this is why they made him king in the end. But this isn't Lucis, this isn't Insomnia. This place is far wilder than that-]

We’ve been through some nonsense.

How about a community gathering next month? We could do with one to keep the morale up. Roast venison, a campfire, perhaps some shenanigans. After Storytelling might be best, in the event something happens on the next island.

[Full disclosure: Laurent’s fiance’s birthday is next month, on the 25th. That’s why he’s suggesting this. But listen, no one has to know it’s a secret birthday party, there’ll be food and maybe games and everyone will benefit anyway.

Plus, he’s willing to provide some lucrative party favours:]

I've considered requisitioning the Storyteller for some alcohol, if you think it’s a good idea. Or those weeds people like so much.

Hey guys, 's Gladio. Got some new gear that'll make construction easier. And a rain barrel so we can haul a much larger quantity of river water over from Enso. Planning to set up another shower and water filter on the little islands, votes on which one?

And while I've got your attention I wanted to see who'd be up for helping me fix up the temple some. Tory -erm I mean The Storyteller's- been busting their butt looking after us, only feels right we should do something for them. Maybe... trying to make friends with them too, guys. They kinda think we all hate them.

More umui discoveries.

We dug credit where credit is due, Lance and I did some excavation in t
he houses (the ones in grids, full of plant growth) and Gladiolus graciously ripped entire chunks of the floor out with his bare hands.

Found sheets of metal in the ground underneath? Same material as the house, seemed to be at least several layers of metal packed on top of each other. Didn’t get to see if there was anything else underneath, you’re free to try digging deeper.

[There's a muffled "hey, no - you can talk to them when they get here" and then Connor clears his throat.]

So I'm teaching a bunch of Jormun children a card game, yeah? And they want to play with, and I quote, "everyone." You should come to the beach and we can all play a super fun card game that is very definitely appropriate for children.

[Suddenly, there's sounds of a struggle, and someone takes the Farspeech stone from Connor and yells HELLO into it before he can wrestle it back.]

Can you all chill? Like, please chill for ten fucking seconds. Jesus, okay. Real quick: I need 15 stories for a - well, actually it's for the things to build a greenhouse. Then I need someone to help me build it because I don't know shit about how to build real-ass buildings. You should also come to the beach and talk to me because - [There's a shriek, and the distinct sound of someone hitting the sand. Quietly: "ow."] I'm apparently not allowed to leave now. Or ever.

[A bunch of incomprehensible chattering, because a bunch of small children just tried to talk at once, and some very exasperated shushing on Connor's part.]

Okay, okay. Christ, I will be so glad when you're all out of my hair. The children say you're also all invited to arts and crafts tomorrow, so bring a rock and I'll teach you how to make a sweet trinket. Say bye, everyone.

[There's a chorus of very enthusiastic BYE from the small children.]
