Well, different dimensions all exist relative to each other, of course. You get formations of several thousand or million all layered closely on top of each other, and sufficiently powerful forces can punch holes between the layers. My frog key used to do that, but it broke when I got here.

The Chaos Emeralds are, more accurately, little solidified chunks of the pre-universal chaos vortex. Humans call them that because they look like shiny rocks. Anyone who gets all seven of them inherits the powers of an immortal being, but on Earth.

He ended up gathering all seven emeralds. I wasn't monitoring Earth at the time, but I heard about it. It was pretty much the usual stuff - his hair began to glow like the sun, his eyes burned like embers, the sky turned dark as he rose both physically and metaphysically above the rest of his kind.
