If you speak of those commonly used in our universe, they are similar to more primitive models, albeit more energy efficient. Additional capabilities include the ability to discern type, number, usage, and expiry date of items stored inside, and ability to communicate this to both people and other objects.
For those which would be easiest to create here, an insulated icebox, though primitive, would allow storage of foods otherwise too perishable to be worth the effort of preparing them.
