February 16th Flooding - Voice

[suspecteverything]

[The sound of rushing water and heavy breathing can be heard in the background before Jules speaks.]  

What the minsid hell?!  Where did all the god damned water come from?!

[There's a brief pause before he comes to a very quick realization.]

Who pissed what off? 

[Because he knows someone must have pissed off something.  Normally he doesn't have to ask who did it since usually he's the one doing it.  Pissing people off is a talent.  But here it's different.  Here he avoids all the minsid god beings like the plague.  He is absolutely confident that this ISN'T HIS FAULT!]

I swear to all the gods that for once it wasn't fucking me!

It's not my story. Traix and Trajen are the ones who went that route.

[For other reasons that just getting stronger, though those other reasons are ones Jules understands far too well.]

[Ignis nods in understands and then stands up.]

Well, shall we try to turn this day into something a little better for you? I believe I still owe you a cake.

[And considering they have no idea when he will be able to return to his home in the Monkey Nests, now seems as good a time as any for seeing to that.]

Wait, seriously?

[Jules just can't quite fathom what he's being offered. It's so unusual for him.]

Of course. I did say I was going to do it, didn't I?

[And he is a man of his word.]

[suspecteverything]

[He probably shouldn't be caught off guard by that, but he is. Learning to trust someone's word is something he's still working on.]

Well, yeah, but...

[He waves an arm vaguely, not quite sure of a good way to put it other than bluntly.]

I don't have a good history with trusting what people say.

[Ignis nods. He might not be able to see the hand waving, but he can all but hear it in Jules' voice.]

Well, I'm just going to have to see about improving that one memory at a time. Now, would you like to assist me in the actual making or would it be safer if you stayed well away from the proceedings?

[He knows Jules makes most of his own food, but baking... Well, that is a different creature entirely as he well recalls from his own early adventures in it.]

[Jules bursts out laughing.]

Have I not told you I was a fat kid growing up who basically lived in the kitchen? You can't learn how to cook without discovering how to make your favorite food.

[Which was cake. He could never turn down a good cake. That's one of the reasons he was so fat growing up.]

[Ignis laughs and then motions him over.]

Well, then get over here and make a blind man's life a little easier. Just don't drip on me!

[suspecteverything]

Don't drip on you? Would you prefer I wring my hair out in your direction? Or perhaps shake it like a lorina would? I could oblige both of those wishes instead.

Ignis snorts softly turning his head toward the tigerlily sunning himself nearby, "You could wring it out on Leo. I'm sure he could use some watering, though he might want to wrestle you in return. I'm not much of a wrestler and his usual partner's been gone a while."

[suspecteverything]

Jules' eyebrow cocks a bit in amusement.

"I'm rather without my wrestling partners as well. Both the adult and child ones."

And he was Andarian. Turning down a fight, even a mock wrestling competition, didn't really happen.

Okay, Ignis should have thought of that. Of course, Jules wasn't going to down a challenge, even if it was just a joke.

"Well then, by all means, have at. He could use the exercise, and it will seem like I have the cake done in no time then."

Plus, if Jules has any lingering frustration from the events of the day, it will be a good way to work out that frustration. Leo will be so happy to wrestle, he won't really care if he ends up losing. It's not like he won with Gladio all the time and despite how large and strong Gladio was, Jules has him beat.

"You're really willing to risk the complete destruction of your home?"

That wasn't a guarantee, of course, but Jules wouldn't bet against it happening. Fighting with an Andarian, particularly him, involved could get pretty intense. The level he could be careful was limited.

[shatteredlenses]

Ignis snorts softly and then gestures away from the house, "There is a perfectly good beach right down there. Point your direction that way, if you don't mind."

[suspecteverything]

"Where's the fun in that?"

Jules was teasing but... No really, where was the fun in that?

[shatteredlenses]

Ignis sighs, but there is a smile on his face as soon as the sigh is done, "The fun is that you don't have to fix everything you broke before you get your cake."

[suspecteverything]

"Well, there's that, I guess. And I don't usually let things get between me and cake."

Even so, he's not about to abandon Ignis for a wrestling match. He trusts him enough to cook for him, but leaving while that happens? Not so much. And besides, he likes to cook just as much as he likes to throw down. It's just not a skill he gets to use as often.

Ignis chuckles and then holds out a clay jar in Jules's direction, "All right. Pull some of the fruit out of there, about a cup to start with. Lets get this started."

"Roger that."

Of course Jules can't help sniffing it to figure out what it is he's actually using. Old habits die hard.
