May Event: Lost in Translation
MAY EVENT: LOST IN TRANSLATION
I Have No Words
Feel free to use this post as an event catch-all for any misfires, island-wide broadcasts, or glitching Stone shenanigans you'd like your characters to get up to! Remember that the Stones of Farspeech do not currently have a texting feature...but that doesn't mean the screen they use to display Caller I.D. can't display text, on occasion. Bear in mind that this screen is small and therefore has limited display options.
If you have any questions, feel free to look over our OOC event post here, and ask any questions as needed!

What you will feel is regret. For as long as you live.

I have no interest in spreading your secrets."
[Rin's voice is lost in the loud buzz of static, a roar across the Stones, followed by the scream of someone who's been nearly shouting himself hoarse for several minutes:]
- SHUT UP.
Rin's not here!
no subject
Ha, ha...I'm sorry.
I couldn't give you a simple, happy ending...
no subject
[And now it's just Tim. Pure and unfiltered Tim, who's been hearing this entire thing and hasn't been able to intervene until just now.]
Who the hell is doing this?
no subject
[Asgore had been inclined to ignore the strange transmissions at first; there were things clearly not meant for his ears, and it seemed rude to listen. But then he heard what he thought was Chara calling for him and Rin speaking in garbled transmissions, and he couldn't ignore that. He's out searching for the former now, since the stones do not seem reliable anymore, but he kept it on him to hear what might be happening.]
Can anybody hear me?
no subject
- never even tried to talk to me about my d̰̼᷃̒͜͞͡a͙̫ͪͬ̒ͨ͠ḏ̗͖̥͆͂᷈ -
[Tim's voice. Younger. And then a hiss and scratch, like a record skipping, and it's Tim again, present day - ]
-gore? Is that you?
no subject
- own child would rather you -
- hear me.
no subject
No. No, they're n - [Another bright whine of screaming white noise - ]
- have had e҉̜̻no͚̤̣u̡̯g҉̟̰h̼̺̳̳ͅ.
[ - and it snaps back to normal, like a rubber band being pulled too tight.]
- anyone with you?
no subject
No, I have not seen anyone. They called me earlier, but I do not think they could hear me. No one else is responding either, something seems to be wrong with my stone.
no subject
Wait. Okay. Where are you.
[Face to face interaction is clearly the safest and only thing they should be trying right around now. I have no one.]
[Yeah. He could say that again.]
no subject
no subject
[Just wait. Well, Tim's home, so at least there's a minimum of confusion there. Hopefully.]
no subject
So that is how it is.
[Meanwhile, from outside:]
Hello? Is anybody here?
no subject
[Tim stumbles out of the house, looking for all the world like someone on the verge of a complete mental breakdown. Probably because, for the last ten minutes or so, he has been.]
no subject
[Asgore is certainly distressed, from all the yelling and general rock chaos, but right now he's just relieved to actually have a chance to speak with another person directly.]
Are you alright? I heard...rather a lot of shouting. [And like, other stuff. Let's not get into specifics.]
no subject
[He didn't even know that he knew her.]
no subject
[basically, he was very confused. and, admittedly, sort of hoping to find her anyway? oh well.]
I do not know how she would have been on mine. She has certainly not been with me.
no subject
[Didn't appreciate getting hit with an avalanche of old feelings he'd long since dismissed, decided were irrelevant, because what was the likelihood they'd come up again?]
[Apparently, more likely than he thought.]
no subject
Come now, it is going to be alright. If Rin is here, she...she will be able to take care of herself until we find her!
[She'd be safe. And then they'd find her, and everything would be okay.
Though Asgore is not currently doing anything at all with his stone, Tim's stone crackles with another transmission:]
Rin is dead!
[Asgore startles at the voice and, though it clearly did not come from anyone in the area, glances around wildly for a moment nonetheless.]
no subject
I'm about two seconds from throwing this thing into the goddamn ocean. I've had it to here with hearing...things from people who aren't here, and -
[His jaw works soundlessly for a moment.]
[And from people who are dead, apparently.]
no subject
[Just give him a moment, if you will. Asgore runs a hand over his eyes. For once, there's no tears pricking there, but the memory of that day is still painful, and hearing his companions' voices out of nowhere gave him a spark of hope that is already curdling into something painful.]
If we did throw them into the ocean, could we get new ones later?
no subject
[He stares at his rock, grimacing.]
Maybe burying them. Keeping them somewhere else. I don't know, I don't - I didn't - [Why should this be clawing at him, sinking greasy claws into his chest and clinging there hard?]
[The words are quiet when he finally manages to get them out. There's no reason it should hit him like this. No reason at all. He's lost people before. He's lost people who he's known longer. It's just the realization, the association, the memory - it all came echoing back with the intensity of a slap, because he'd let himself stop thinking about it and now he can't get away with that anymore.]
I didn't know.
I didn't know she was dead.
no subject
[Guilt hits Asgore instantly; he should have said as much immediately.]
No, no, she was not really dead. Although I...thought she was at the time... [The rock has moved on to what sounds like Asgore's muffled sobbing, which Asgore in the present day is just furiously pretending isn't happening, thanks.] We were inside a computer, so everyone who died had not really died? It happened to them, but it was not real. I'm sorry if that does not make sense, I am not the best at explaining it.
[tl;dr Rin got murdered but it was in the Matrix]
no subject
[It's not the weirdest thing he's ever heard. People don't stay dead. And she wasn't dead, so - if he says it - ]
It's okay. I'm...'s good she's not dead. Even if... [She's not here right now. Even if her death evidently hit Asgore pretty hard, if what his rock is uttering is any indication. It's fortunate that the sound of crying never bothered Tim. He's too much of a crybaby himself to care.]
no subject
I was with her right before I was brought here. We had plans to travel together, when everything was over...if only for a little while.
