Hey there, islands. Happy new year and all that, if that even matters. I mean, the holidays don't seem to matter here but there's a calendar so...?

[There's a pause, and Lance clears his throat.]

Anyways, this isn't about that! Recently I put in a request with the good ol' Storyteller because I was reminded of something from back home and thought, with all the crazy things that happen here, something that's a little more chill and lowkey might be good?

It's this, uh, game? Called Monsters & Mana. It's a little hard to explain and it's super nerdy, but it's pretty fun! You roll dice and pretend to be a character and go on an adventure the Lore Master puts together for you.

I've got a lot of books for it and everything we'd need to play it, but I don't want to just keep it to myself? So if anyone wants to take a look at it or play it just hit me up!

Who do you pretend to be? What's 'a character?'

Oh, good.

And a character is like - you're not just yourself reacting to all these things! You're playing pretend, so you're pretending to be yourself. That's your character. The character I played last time was a super cool ninja assassin [thief. he was a thief.] named Pike, who totally saved the day with all his sneaky, stealthy skills.

You did it! The super cool ninja assassin was a 'hero'-that kind of person. You made someone very good.

[Boy, this catches her interest like no one's business. Playing pretend?? She can do that. She's done that and-]

Can I play a dope wizard?

[Don't let her do this. Make her an honorary dice thrower.]

Yeah! [He's glad nobody is here to correct him, because that's not quite how things went down. Ren doesn't need to know that, though.

Or the very important fact he made a furry.]

I'm pretty sure there's a wizard class, yeah. You can be as dope as you want.

[He didn't know people still used the word "dope". That's so 21st century.]

[Tell her your furry sins, Lance. It'll distract her from her brain going 900 miles in every direction. She Has Qs.]

Can I wear a hat? And have a cat? And play with fire? And talk to ravens? Can those wizards do that in this game?

[And somewhere, while creating this bizarre wizard fusion of her fam, she takes a breath and asks-]

Who are you going to play?

You can wear whatever you want, I think some classes can summon animals or have the ability to talk to them? I don't know if it's all the same kind of wizard, but I'm not an expert.

[He's not that much of a nerd!]

And I don't know. Haven't really thought that far yet...

[If only Lance could see The Joy that crosses her horrible goblin face. Because damn son. She's got a wizard hat, a cat, and can bring one of the wooden birds to play this game with her. She'll be set before she even rolls the dice.]

You could be someone that plays with bombs or be a 'drifter' or a dog that talks with paint-

You can be all those things and then be a hero again.

[Lance lives to make dreams come true. He's pretty sure that's what he's doing.]

[That's certainly A Concept.]

We'll see what I come up with once we get something going. We've got plenty of time to build something.
