On a likely related note. Does anyone else have some kind of marking appear on them recently?

That was the color and shape of my own mark, as well. It simply appeared at some point while I slept, as far as I can tell.

I do not believe I know them to any great extent. [They didn't sign their messages either, but that sure doesn't sound like any skeletons he knows.] Nor do I think many people would associate the color orange with me.

I see. You might want to get in contact with the others, it might help. There are quite a few with orange markings.
