Sooo that new island, right? With all the nothing and the flowers? [You know the one.] Had a little search party and found a letter - or more like a diary page, really? Keith [who you might hear int he background, or you might not, we're doing it live] thinks it's pretty important.

[There's the careful rustle of paper, as Lance doublechecks the scroll.]

Some of the writing at the bottom got damaged, but whoever wrote this was evacuating their home - some place called Tempide - because it was being swallowed by the sea? [Or it was something else that had the side-effect of raising sea levels.] Or collapsing, which they say had happened before.

They ended up at a temple which - might be somewhere on this island? We found this at a dock.

[There's a brief pause, because what do you really...say when you're dealing with something like this?]

There's more, but I don't really know what it means. But somebody else might find something that explains more.

[Oh good, Keith is here, he has an anchor to this conversation that isn't being completely out of his depth.]

They were caretakers-- it called itself a guardian unit. Their patients, whatever they were, died somehow. It needed direction. Was missing a lot of memories.

[A pause.]

I certainly didn't move it. It may still be there.

A guardian unit? [Taking care of patients.] Sounds more like a nurse if it had a patient that died...

Exactly how functional would you say it is?

Not well. It could speak, but not without distortion. Can't move. It asked me to help but I haven't the slightest about repairing a robot. I think there are some on this island that could, though. Mostly I just removed what flowers I could. But it certainly seems like it was... well, that it's 'patient' was long gone.

Right, well, hopefully it'll make it out okay. [Robots are people too!] But that means it probably wouldn't be able to tell us what happened to the patient, huh? Like...where they could be.

Not in their current state, I would imagine. They may have additional knowledge if we could unlock it. But I believe all I would be good for in this process is pulling weeds.

[Which he could do, but he doesn't really want to be sticking his whole hand in there without supervision.]

The rest of the lab was pretty thoroughly destroyed. I don't think there was anything else of note.
