Hey.
[For those who have heard him speak before, Michael's voice sounds a little strained. He's trying his best to hold it together, but he's having several new experiences right now and liking precisely none of them.]
Quick question - is the volcanic ash having any weird effects on anyone other than the kid thing? Like, say, the feeling that your physical form is starting to collapse in on itself, crumbling into the yawning void at the center of your being? Just curious!
[For anyone who happens to be on Islet 5, Michael is just sort of sitting on the ground right in the middle of the beach. He did not intend to be doing this, but things happened.]

I've never actually solved a Rubik's cube, but-- How did you make a flavor that tastes like that?

[Not a real answer, but also the only real answer. Michael leans back, emptying the last of the trail mix directly into his mouth.]
It's actually sort of a stepping stone for us, between human food and the more conceptual things we like to eat - or drink, or grind into a powder and snort. Still don't technically need it to live, but it's fun at parties!

Even if you haven't needed it to live before, maybe you should eat and drink regularly. Going too long without food isn't exactly healthy.

[they're reasons and they exist and he doesn't want to explain them]
I've always been more of a social eater. Do it at parties, with the humans, that kind of thing.

[ She passes over another baggy of trail mix. ]
Do you feel better after having some of this? Like your body isn't going to-- [ what was it he said ] --"collapse in on itself"?

[don't like that!]
But I already checked, and I still don't have any blood. Wouldn't I need that to have organs? [And like, a stomach is required for food, he guesses?]

She frowns. ]
Maybe... but, these islands do a lot of things that make no sense. What I do know is that eating made you feel better, so...
But you could always ask the Storyteller. They'll probably be able to give you an exact answer.

[Michael grimaces.]
I don't trust anything setting itself up as a god.

[ She'd ask them for him, but... it's still the word of a god. ]
Well... since you gave me this frozen yogurt, you can take the food I have. Just in case.

[It may be a long time yet before things like that stop being novel.]
