stones of farspeech (12 jan)
(While her companions may be comfortable addressing the network as a whole, Yasha has never put out this kind of call before. She's a little hesitant in her speech, and it definitely sounds like she went over what she was going to say before she picked up her stone of farspeech to do it for real. She's doing her best.)
... Hello.
I wanted to ask something about gardening.
Where do I find dirt? There is a lot of sand around, but I cannot find dirt. I would like to have a lot of it.
Thank you.
(There's the sound of muffled fumbling with the stone, and then another, faint addition right before she finds the off button:)

[He recognizes and knows this voice by now, one of the few he does.]
Have you looked at the other islands? Nudian in particular is a farming colony. The local god may be able to help out.
no subject
(that's all the elaboration she's going to offer on that apparently???)
How do I get in touch with the local god?
no subject
You can call them on these, actually! Or well, you may... try. It's a little less reliable. Otherwise you can take the mana pool to their temple. Thankfully it's right by the transport.
[Wait he didn't say the name--]
Oh! Their name is Harv. By the way.
no subject
(That sounds familiar... somebody has told her about them before. Yasha frowns, trying to remember.) I know that name.
(Could be somebody mentioned them in passing, is all.) Does calling them on the stones work the same way as calling anybody else? I just say the name?

[He suddenly sounds kind of proud though, about the phone feature. He did that! He gave rocks to gods! Helping!]
Yes, all the same. Though occasionally magical interference means you cannot get through to them that way. Harv also tends to be a... rather quick god. They may not be in the temple to answer.

(She's looking at her rock now, turning it over in her hand. Knowing her luck, she would probably run into that magical interference that Kravitz is talking about... her brow furrows.)
Okay. If I keep trying, will they get annoyed?
no subject
Perhaps if you got through many times. But I do not believe they even get it if you do not get through. I'm not sure. During that attack with the shadow creatures I tried to contact Harv and Anbaki, but only Anbaki seemed to receive the message. It's hard to say.

(As if Yasha is capable of pestering anybody for anything. She'll have to hope she gets through on the first few tries, otherwise she'll probably abandon the attempt.)
Have you ever gardened before?
no subject
[He pauses a few moments to consider. Has he? Is "once in a dream of a fake ideal future where I was married with a white picket fence and a flower garden" actual gardening? Did he know what he was doing??]
A little. Not much. I, I know what dirt is, though!
[Absolutely superb you funky little reaper.]

There is a deliberate pause.)
Okay. (She's not sure of what else to say.) Maybe I can ask Harv about that too.

He audibly sighs when she even responds, because truthfully, Kravitz was kind of expecting her to just Leave. She would've been valid in doing it too.]
Uhm... that would be wise, uh, I think. I know a number of people here had some experience, soooo... I hope they'll contact you here as well.

(There is a long, uncomfortable pause. Sometimes Yasha just doesn't know how to make words come out of her mouth any good, and this is one of those times? She's so embarrassed.)
Um... thank you, for your help. Good bye.
(and she clicks the stone off and puts her face into her hands)
no subject
Yes, absolutely, you too, mhmm.
[And then he just tosses his stone across the elf camp tent and into his and Taako's bed. Done. Finished. He will deal with that later or, uh, never maybe!
Fantastic.]
