lifenet | [Lup-Net] Datapad Discovery 7/17

Gladio, Prompto, and I have been exploring a rather large square of area near the eastern coast, just below where the land starts to widen, over the last 4 days. There are quite a few buildings, the most important being a secondary lab marked as 'Beta.' We've found a fair number of robots here, much like have been found in other places, along with some tools and an old computer. From what I've been told, there is nothing of use that can be salvaged from the computer, unfortunately. On the other hand, the datapad we found on the other side of the building has proven more useful.

For those of you who know me, you are aware I'm unable to write down what I've found, though I do have a device that will allow me to read what the datapad has on it. If someone would be so kind as to add this to the information we already have, I will be in your debt.

[Ignis pauses for a few moments to let anyone willing to transcribe get ready. He then begins to read the below in a slow, but steady voice. It takes sometime as he is actually translating it into braille to read back, but it gets the job done.

There are more buildings down to the south of the area, but we have been here for 4 days now and it is long passed time we left this place for a while. Anyone who is looking for a new place to pick up there search from, please considering picking up here. The three of us will be spending a lot of time at our cottage over the next few days should you want more details on the location.

[He takes the cup and sniffs at it suspiciously. Even with the pounding headache roaring in his head, his paranoia about someone poisoning his food or drink is still there. Habit makes him check. Normally he wouldn't dare risk it even after a quick smell test, but the water will definitely help.]

[Ignis listens carefully to make sure he drinks the water, but once he hears the sniff it doesn't take him long to realize why Dagger's pausing.]

Will it help if I take a drink first?

[Considering what he knows of his friend's history, being insulted at the fact Dagger thinks Ignis would poison him never even crosses his mind.]

Not really. I'm just that suspicious of literally everything.

All right, well then let me give you this too and you can inspect it to your heart's content.

[Ignis picks up another small bowl and passes it to Dagger.]

They're sweets I made with apricots and coconut. A little something to help get some energy back into your system.

Don't bother. Water I'll consider. Food is a different story.

[That's not really ever worth the risk. At least water is relatively hard to hide anything in. Without it's own flavor, he could easily tell if it had been tampered with in some way.]

All right, if you insist.

[Ignis settles the bowl into his lap and pops one of the sweets into his mouth. Just because Dagger isn't going to enjoy them, doesn't mean he's going to do the same.]

I assume it's safe to say you got nothing aside from a headache out of that?

And a few scrambled brain cells.

[Probably more than a few really, but he's not about to admit to just how messed up he is after that endeavor. He might not be thinking right, but he's definitely thinking well enough not to be suicidal.]

[Ignis winces slightly at the answer, hoping that Dagger is exaggerating, but not counting on it considering exaggerating isn't really something he does.]

Is there something I can do to thank you for the attempt? Successful or not, I am glad you were willing to give it a try.

[Not exaggeration no, but pure sarcasm.]

Nah. It's fine. Just wish I could have found something.

There is still a great deal of the island to explore. I'm sure we will find our answers soon enough.

For now, why don't we just relax? You, at least, have earned a bit of a break.
