Hey.

[As expected of someone like Beau, the message starts with less fanfare or presentation than others might. She doesn't like doing this in general- she's a bad face person to a movement and also doesn't want information to get into the hands of someone she doesn't trust. But they're sort of out of options, and turning to the Storyteller is, in her opinion, not one of them. She won't worry about spreading her name, either- who knows what these things record, and she doesn't like that when it comes to sensitive intel.]

Anyone who's gone underwater. If you wanna talk about what you found, come to the Denny. And if you have one of those weird orbs, bring 'em and be prepared to talk.

[That's about as much as she'll say before she clicks off.]

Oh. Oh good, now there's weird orbs to go along with the weird fish people, their weird magic, the weird sunken city, and the weird shadow walruses. Yeah, that sounds real cool. Weird orbs.

Are they valuable at least? I was really hoping to find some booty to plunder, but no go.

[Keith had to make a stop to collect the orb he'd left at the library. With a promise to bring it straight back he steps into Denny in his darker Marmora armor. All sleek black lines, it reminds him last time he was really face to face with this person.

Was the trial of the patient. He puts that out of his head and nods.] Hey. I have the orb with me and what I wrote down of what I saw and heard when I touched it. What did you find?

[Tim's gone poking around, sure. Mostly he's here to catch on to what everyone else is talking about. He can usually be found here in general - but today he's looking for whoever might be filing in to meet with anyone else.]

[He ends up just point blank asking her when she enters, 'cause he figures one of the people coming in is the person he heard on the stones.]

You here to talk about what we found underwater?

There's always fucking something around here. And as much as I don't wanna throw my shit around, if that thing is gonna jump me I wanna know about it first.

[It's some kinda priority, even if she's hesitant to talk over the stones about any kind of findings.]

I dunno if they count as valuable, they're not solid gold or anything, they're just all we have that keeps turning up.

[As much as she has a hard time trusting anyone forever, there's something about the few of them that were stuck in that trial that she's just kind of stuck to. Maybe it's less about their values, and more that she knows when the pressure is on they'll get shit done. Better him than someone she doesn't know, at least. At his promise of an orb, she nods, arms crossed, before sitting up and pulling out a backpack from under the table--

And produces two orbs. One on each hand. She sets them down quickly, before the effects can set in.]

Two so far. Different locations. One makes more sense than the other one. Also something else, but I dunno if it'd be dangerous to open.

Weird orbs, huh? Wanna elaborate on that, babe?

[Lup sounds as laid back as ever, but if you've been trapped with her in some shitty underground cave or another, you'll probably know that edge to her voice that says she's Paying Attention.]

[He takes out his journal and the feathered cloak from the trial. Both items are laid carefully down. He parts the feathers and reveals the orb.]

...we can check the dangerous one in a better location. I’ll get Kosmo in case we need teleported out of harm.

[Keith slowly reaches for one orb, then the other. Once he mentally reviews what he’s seen he grabs for the journal and jots it down.] That’s something. It’s enough to go on.

My journal has a few sketches. It’s from memory but that’s the place we investigated. I’m not sure if any of these orbs show that location.

What thing? Wait, what thing is jumping you? Are there more shadow walruses? Does every building have a shadow walrus?

And...man, I wanted to find cool shit! Cool, valuable stuff we can actually use, not...old rotted junk. You'd think people advanced enough to make robots with artificial intelligence would've left something of value behind.

I thought we got a super special treasure thingy, I drew the WHOLE THING in my sketchbook and everything, what if they're like a play but you have to watch it all through magic orbs?

[She is super yelling this so if Yasha's also still at home she is super going to also hear it.]

[She gives him a curt nod when he enters.]

Yeah. You're fast.

[Disregarding that she knows he's here pretty much all the time, seeing as Beau is no stranger to this place. It gives her alcohol basically for free as long as she doesn't start fights and does dishes sometimes. It's cool. She makes her way over to a table more in the corner, but not out of view of the door.]

You been down there yet?

I'm usually here.

[There's a question in his tone - why wouldn't he be? - but that's not the important part.]

Little bit, yeah. Didn't find a whole lot that was actually useful, but there were hints, I guess, of what used to be...you know, down there.

Not on here, not really. Dunno who could be listening. All I'm gonna say is there are weird orbs and I'm seeking info.

[She'll give Lup a little more though, just for being Lup.]

[Oh hey, that's a good use for that cloak. Not that she hasn't been using it, her greatest strength is just... not really standing still. She could think about it.]

The orbs are fine. Other thing's just a container. Dunno what's in it but only one way to find out.

[It sucks that she can't pick a lock on it or anything. But while he's taking his own vision trips, she'll survey his, taking her own notes when he speaks again.]

Yours makes even less goddamn sense. But the two I got seemed to show the place they were in. First one was in a big hall, second one seemed to be a school. Hard to say if they exactly matched. Where'd you find this?

[Dang, paranoid much? Just kidding, Lup's seen her under pressure. But it's not like the rabbit usually gives a fuck, and who else is gonna hack this?]

Alright, you got me curious. You at the Denny right now or...?

Oh I just mean anything. There's always something around. So I'd rather know what it is first before it finds me.

[But she can understand the thought of wanting to find some good loot. It's been ages since she found some proper treasure.]

See, that's what's fucked up, it seems like it's been looted before. Like we're picking up the remains of some other guy that got all the gold. And like, where's that guy, because he's my target now, right?

There is a building with four spires on top. We found it buried in some debris inside. [He can connect some pieces but they don’t have enough pieces for him to make a timeline. It’s frustrating.

Patience. He has to be patient. He leans back in his seat and crosses his arms over his chest.] We couldn’t find any others. The building was crawling with those nightmare creatures. They were only put off by light for so long.

We could do a second sweep of it.

[GOD that's loud. She winces at the zero to sound of Jester's voice, scrambling to cover her hand over the stone as she replies. This is supposed to be covert, Jester! She's already at the Denny!!]

Jess! Shhh, I don't know okay??

[She continues to whisper into her Stone, so anyone else in the Denny won't hear.]

I'm trying to get people to tell me if there are any more, it's a secret.

[She doesn't even really acknowledge it as he leaves that unspoken between them, slumping down into the chair and retrieving a notebook from the outside pocket of her bag.]

Yeah, it's creepy to see a place so... whole, but not? To think a whole place abandoned at once. 'Ss weird.

[Beau flips a few pages, going over her notes. If Tim looks, he might see some jumbled bits of writing, never in full sentences. Notable moments include Guild leaders? Council of elected or nominated?, shadow monsters?, and one that just says orb???????? in one of the corners before she flips away.]

You find anything?

[He tilts his head slightly to catch some of the words of her notes. Definitely looks like she uncovered more than he did.]

Little things. Some old bones that might be animal? Old coin. Ring that looked like it'd been there for a while. Stuff like that. [Nothing to write home about, supposedly.] You?

[It's old criminal carefulness, more than anything. She isn't familiar with long distance communication, so trusting these things to be infallible makes her nervous.]

Yeah. Trust me, you're gonna want to see this.

[How could she explain "orbs that beam a scene into your head" otherwise? Better to just let her see it. When Lup arrives, she'll be in one of the corners, back to the wall and a journal out on the table. By her feet, there's a sack with a drawstring, and an indiscriminate jug. If Beau sees her enter, she'll give a little nod of her head in recognition until she comes over.]

[She furrows her brow a bit, looking thoughtful about that.]

First one, the hall, was empty. But the school had one of those things. Barely made it out with this shit. What are they, anyway? Seems like they show up with the water, but... what's their purpose? What are they supposed to do?

[Things just don't Exist, not sentient life. There has to be a role in the ecosystem for them. So what slot do shadow monsters who eat people fill...?]

[Her count now is up to 4; two for her, one for Keith, and now his. How many of these could there even be?]

I don't know what they are. The Storyteller told me, they come from the depths of the sea. Their purpose seems to be to plunge everything into darkness.

[He flips the pages back to his notes on the types of nightmare creatures.] I wrote down everything they said about them. ...and what I saw when they tried to take out the sun.

The water angle I don't know. It's reoccurring and I have a bad feeling about it.

[She's pretty used to this sort of thing. Beau's whole job back home is gathering information from the shadows, so she's good at noting down everything.]

Well. Yeah.

[She reaches under the table, and pulls up a bag, opening up the top and reaching in to get out a tied bundle of cloth. Inside are two wrapped bundles, and when she opens them both... there's two orbs inside.]

They're magic. If you touch 'em you'll see what I mean. It won't hurt you, just don't freak out.
